Music and Bands at Killerton

Some of the bands that were playing in Exeter whilst "we" were there

I was not a great follower of music back in the day. When we did have bands at Killerton I was invariably involved running the bar or generally wandering around acting as the gofor. Even on the occasion of Slade appearing at the University I volunteered to work in the bar (organised and operated by that well know beverage supplier of the time, Austins!)

However, in recent years, and prompted by the posters I found on the Rolle Facebook page, I have become strangely interested in finding out just which bands were appearing in the area, especially at Killerton and St Luke's, but also at Rolle and at the University.

I’ve already had few contributions to add to my list, though dates and places of most have apparently faded into dim and distant past.

The Killerton barbeques started my interest:

mid 60s           Manfredd Mann

68        Marmalade

69        Nashville Teens

70        Amen Corner

71        Paladin, Medicine Head

72        Atomic Rooster, Emperor Rosko

73        Tremeloes, Gary More, "supporting bands", disco

The posters on the Rolle Facebook page provided details of a few more “local” gigs in 1972:
