Here are few notes related by various people about members of the House:

Haden Donovon mentions:

Bob, an ex soldier who joined Killerton in 1966, but left college after one year because he found college P.E. lecturers not as good as he had expected. He had been a PTI in the army and felt he knew more than they did!

Chris Way  was probably "the best footballer of my time - a regular in Luke's 1st. XL and on the books of a league team".

Andy Hollins 1968 was in the 1st. XV at Lukes and later played for Bedford. Had had attended Staffordshire County training sessions with Haden before they came to Luke's.

A few updates from 2016

Phil Jackson has to send apologies for the weekend as this is his busy time at the Minack.  TV shows from Cornwall usually include an interview with him (and very well done they are too)

Rich Heale "œis domiciled in Bangkok with my new Russian partner. Alexandra is 32 and has two Masters degrees. What she sees in me is quite beyond my comprehension. Anyone passing through this way I would be delighted to catch-up with."

Chris Chivers is still œnot fully retired though with 6 children and 7 grandchildren, he is pretty fully employed, but still spends a lot of time in Limousin in France.

Paul Goodwin, having retired from teaching now runs a travel agency with a Polish lady mainly organising trips to Poland for Brits, and trips to Britain for Poles (sweeping generalisation,“ sorry Paul )

Malc Greenhalgh is director of a very successful Director of Incyte, an international education consultancy (incyte.eu.com).

Roger Dickson is still supporting Palace but now as a hospital Radio commentator.

Taffy Thomas is regularly called on to arrange rugby trips and trips to the WW2 cemeteries in France and Belgium (the two types of trips are not related).

Dick Henley in Toronto is still heavily involved in publishing, but spending time in the Pour House Pub lusting after high end convertible cars at around $700,000 (plus taxes).

Heard from Charles Todd that "œJohn Gibson (Killerton 1974/7); still in America with his partner and children; no sign of him returning to the UK anytime soon." and he is "œstill communicating with former Lukeys, Nigel Taplin (Headmaster of the Rio Grande School, New Mexico), Rob Braithwaite; retired, former RAEC., Fiona Slee (nee Lindsay) retired, living in Lynmouth and Mark Barratt, Baptist minister, Cheltenham. Varied lives!"

Jem Edwards managed to sneak in a wedding last year and now appears to spend his life touring Europe with his wife Za.

Patrick Barrett is now fully retired and has signed up as a guide at Highgrove

Dai Griffiths reported in April '16:

One of the most rewarding things about working in CostCo member services is being encouraged to be friendly and chat to people and its amazing the coincidences that are uncovered.

Just recently a gentleman from Blaengarw, a small valleys town came to shop at Costcos. I chatted to him and discovered he was a resident at Killerton 1966, his name is Dai Michael, a lovely chap who moved into College after the first year, it appears he had a problem oversleeping and late/missing lectures due to the social life of Killerton I think.

He spoke of Sir Richard and Lady Anne who often attended Sunday lunch. He mentioned Sir Richard's ability as a squash player.

Dai reeled off quite a few names of his contemporaries. I told him of the website so hopefully he might get in touch with a story or two.  He teaches physics at Sandfields Port Talbot, only part-time now but he is a very active 68 year old.

One of the people he mentioned was Newport hooker Dai Ford. Does anyone else remember any of these 2 Dais ?

Another regular member of Costco is John Scott, former England and Cardiff rugby player who did not live in halls of residence whilst at St. Luke's. He remembered the Pontardulais choir playing at Killerton and asked to pass on his regards  especially to Rob Lukey Lewis who he said went to America to play tennis and later taught at Reading.

In response, Peter Cloke pointed out:

I remember Dai very well .He was the fastest drinker of a pint I have ever seen. -  something like 2.3 seconds.

I have it on good authority, though it needs to be confirmed,

"... Haden Donovon's brother David was a drummer in the 60’s and 70’s, and probably beyond, who played with Roy Wood and associated bands - the Move and Wizard etc. I believe that Haden was involved with Slade..."

I did find this on the web, written by a Slade fan about meeting .."... DDon (presumably a friend) had been given free passes from Haden Donovan (Slade roadie who was working as Road Manager for The Jets) - and I went with him to enjoy the free show."

.. and another site: "... Swinn thus took charge of a road crew that supported Slade for the next 15 years and included their sound man Charlie – “Full poke, Charlie!” – Newham, Johnny Jones, known as JJ, Hayden Donovan and Scotsman Robbie Wilson, “whose wilful disregard for conventional behaviour became a constant source of amusement for the touring party"

... and final, clearly Haden was well involved because on a third website: by 1984 ”Haden Donovan (Slade Roadie / Tour Manager) was now at the helm ..."
