A very enjoyable weekend.
Most of us met up at the Lamb Inn in Silverton during the Saturday afternoon. In the evening we migrated from the bar into the Function Room where we had a most pleasant meal.
Following the meal, a return to the bar for a few last drinks before retiring to our various beds.
Sunday morning and a goodly number made their way to the National Trust car Park for a visit to our "home". Once again Denise Melhuish welcomed us. The House becomes more and more welcoming every time we visit.The National Trust have done a magnificant job in making the house feel so warm and comfortable. There was even a chap there playing the piano in the music room - not Fleur des Lis.
After our visit to Killerton, many of us retired to the Red Lion in Broadclyst for a "light lunch" (sorry John) prior to our cricket match.
Braodclyst CC were awaiting us as we arrived back at the Killerton Cricket Ground. Although the club was still having licencing issues, they had arranged for a barrel of beer to be made available for us. Most welcome. The teams sorted and the spectators settled, the game commenced. The weather had been threatening rain all weekend but within a few minutes of the game starting the clouds began to clear and the sun came out to warm the backs of the players. By mid afternoon it was very warm.
I'll leave details of the match to others, but suffice to say it was a very entertaining game, especially if you avoided counting the fielders.
Following the match Broadclyst fired up the BBQ and details of the match were discussed, plans for next year's match were laid, and one or two (more) drinks were imbibed.
We left the field some time after 9:00, when a few more hardy members of the squad decided a vist to Eadie's in Bradninch was in order.
Monday morning and we all went our separate ways.
