Monty and Maggie's son, Matthew, is getting married this year, so, of course, there has to be a stag do!

Unlike stag dos in our day that usually consisted of a night in a pub or pubs, nowadays the event is more normally a day or days full of activities with and evening in a bar or a restaurant to recover.

Matthew's stag event was no different, an afternoon racing at the Gloucester karting track followed by axe throwing. Monty very sensibly decided not to subject himself to the rigours of travelling at high speeds, whilst sitting on a hard plastic seat two or three inches above the road surface in a vehicle with hard rubber tires and next to no suspension. He did however take part in the axe throwing activity. This after all is an event that one takes part in whilst standing up so aggravating hips and knees should have been avoided.

 Unfortunately it appears that Monty’s main activity was bending down to recover axes that had failed to penetrate the target so the meal and drinks in the evening was a welcome opportunity to recuperate.
